Race Schedule

2010

Top Gun Triathlon Saturday, July 31, 2010
Goal of 1:40 (check!)
My first triathlon was the Top Gun Triathlon at Ft. Desoto Park in St. Petersburg, FL. It was a sprint triathlon with a .25 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 5k run. You can view the race results here.

Nike Women’s Half-Marathon Sunday, October 17, 2010
Goal of 3:30 (check!)
I’m not a strong runner, but I decided to do Nike Women’s Half Marathon (that’s 13.1 miles!) in San Francisco, CA because I thought it was a great excuse to travel. And who can say no to a Godiva Chocolate Mile, pedicure station, and Tiffany’s finisher necklaces? Did I mention the San Francisco Fire Department handed out those Tiffany necklaces? Well, the course was hilly, cold, and rainy, but I finished! I participated in this event as a part of Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Jingle Bell Run Wednesday, December 8, 2010
Goal of 0:36 (check!)
The 28th Annual Boley Center Jingle Bell Run was freezing this year! Easy 5k, no timer, and lots of families, pets, and walkers. I just wanted to get out of the cold!

2011

Warrior Dash Saturday, January 29, 2011
Goal: to have fun! (check!)
The Warrior Dash was the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes. I can only say one thing about this race: mud, mud, and more mud. For more information, you can view the race report here.

Gasparilla Distance Classic, Half Marathon Sunday, February 27, 2011 Goal of 3:00 (nearly!)
I can’t believe I did another half marathon. The Gasparilla Distance Classic is a flat, fast course along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, FL - not to mention, it’s beautiful.

Escape From Ft. Desoto Triathlon April 2011
Goal of 1:45
Escape is another sprint triathlon and I’m going to participate in this event as a warm-up for St. Anthony’s. This triathlon is a little further than Top Gun and Suncoast – .5 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 4 mile run.

St. Anthony’s Triathlon May 1, 2011
Goal of 3:30
This will be my first Olympic distance triathlon (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10K run) and takes place just two short weeks after Escape From Ft. Desoto. This event is usually wet-suit legal, which should strengthen my swimming even more. However, the winds usually shorten this distance or cancel the swim all together. That means the bike and run will be brutal, too.  This event takes place in my back yard – my training ground – in downtown St. Petersburg by the Pier, the Vinoy, Northshore pool, and down into my neighborhood, Shore Acres.

Bike MS The Citrus Tour Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15, 2011
Goal of  2:30 for each Half Century
I’ve joined team Watt Deficiency to participate in a race to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Bike MS is a two-day event with multiple-length rides running from Lake Whales, FL to Orlando, FL, staying overnight in the beautiful Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando. 50 miles on Saturday and another 50 miles on Sunday.

Top Gun Sprint Triathlon July 30, 2011
Goal of 1:20
This race marks my first anniversary of being a triathlete. 2011 also marks the 10th year for the Top Gun Triathlon. I just want to show myself how far I’ve come

Oldsmar Taphouse 5k Friday, June 10, 2011
Goal of 27 minutes
Why in the world would I choose to run a night race in the heat of June? Beer, of course!

Beach Palooza 5k Saturday, November 5, 2011
Goal: to have fun!
Beach Palooza is the fun-loving sibling of the Warrior Dash. This time we’ll climb over lifeguard stands, under beach balls, around bungee cords, through noodles, crawl through a tunnel, trek through quick sand, and jump over fire. Rumor is, there will actually be a hill this time! I’ll be wearing my pineapple hat FTW.

I’ll be updating this!
